How To Incorporate The Invisalign Treatment Into Your Daily Routine

Nowadays, more people are opting for Invisalign treatments instead of using metal brackets and wires. Invisalign treatments are more like virtually invisible aligners that improve the appearance and health of your teeth with the help of clear aligners.

However, one of the most common questions from those wanting to get an Invisalign treatment concerns their daily routine. Here we have put together a few points on how you can incorporate the Invisalign treatment into your daily routine.

Morning routine

When you wake up in the morning, remove your clear aligner and give it a quick rinse. You can run it in the water and brush gently. Then you can continue to floss and brush your teeth like you normally do.

Remove your clear aligners when having your breakfast or morning coffee. Once you’re done eating, quickly brush your teeth once more and then put back your clear aligner tray. If you have limited time following this routine, just brush only once after having your breakfast.

Routine to follow during the day

During the day, try to stay away from coffee, tea, or soda- except for water. It’s risky to allow the sugar from these drinks to stay in your teeth for longer. Avoid chewing gums when you have the clear aligners on, and make sure to remove them during your afternoon meal.

After your meal, brush your teeth before putting back the clear aligners on –like what you did after your breakfast. If you don’t brush, the stray food particles can be stuck in your teeth for longer- which can increase the risk of gingivitis, tooth decay, and bad breath.

But if you don’t get time or an opportunity to brush your teeth after a meal, it’s still recommended to put your clear aligners back. When you get back home, make sure to brush your teeth between 4-6 hours of having the meal.

Bedtime routine

Before bed, again clean your clear aligners and follow it up with flossing and brushing your teeth. This can also be a good time for you to soak your clear aligner in a specialized cleaning crystal offered by your dentist or Invisalign specialist- even some good denture cleaners work well to soak and clean your clear aligners.

Last but not least, you should upgrade to a new clear aligner every 2-4 weeks. While this isn’t a part of the daily routine, it should essentially be a part of your monthly routine. Make sure you’re keeping track of your appointments and attending them duly. Failing to do this can easily throw you off progress, especially because you may require additional time to reschedule.

In truth, Invisalign treatment has only a little impact on your daily routine and incorporating it becomes easier with time. The constant flossing and brushing that’s incorporated into your daily routine with an Invisalign treatment can improve your oral health as well.
